Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th, 1967. Roberts is part of the fourth generation of Robertses that live in the Atlanta area, starting by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father was a theatre enthusiast at an early time. While a student at Emory University in 1952 he performed in shows on campus as well as in other parts of Atlanta. When he joined the Air Force and appearing in an airforce production in Biloxi along with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple married and in 1956 their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter was a student at Tulane University at New Orleans, Louisiana in 1957 after they had separated from the US Air Force. Walter joined Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio at the time the family relocated from Atlanta to Decatur in Georgia in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local Saturday morning children's show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. They also founded a six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later the same year. In 1965, they welcomed two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
